cervical screening

Cervical Screening

At present, all women aged between 25 and 64 are invited for screening every three years. Women aged 50 or over, will in the future, be invited every five years.

Cervical cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages and so it is important to attend screening appointments on time. The most common symptom of cervical cancer is unexplained bleeding from the vagina, and women who experience this should see their GP immediately even if they have received a normal smear test result in the last three years.

Please phone our reception team on 01745 342225 to book an appointment with one of our nurses.

contraception

Family Planning/Contraception

A doctor's appointment is not necessary to discuss your family planning requirements - We recommend booking in with one of our nurses.

Our nurses are able to see you for your family planning/contraception requirements, we recommend patients book an appointment a week in advance to there contraception medication running out. Also the implant can be discussed firstly with one of our nurses who can later make a minor surgery appointment with one of our GP's if necessary.

Please note that emergency contraception i.e. 'morning after pill' is a service provided by your local chemist free of charge.

If you are unable to attend surgery times for specific dates for whatever reason please be aware there is also a family planning clinic held at the Royal Alex Hospital in Rhyl.
